The siddur is the Hebrew name of the Jewish prayerbook used for Shabbat and holidays. The Hebrew root of the word "siddur" means "order" because the prayers are arrangeed in a prescribed thematic order. The prayer service is quite complex, and a subject worthy of prayer. Indeed, in order to understand the prayer service and perhaps to pray as well, one needs to understand the order or prayers.
